Some
history about Reef Cottage. The Cottage was built in 1887 from native
rimu timber for local Barrister, Patterson and Son (hence the vault
room). We bought Reef Cottage and the two properties next to it in 1995.
Reef
Cottage Cafe has been renovated into Victorian style in 2001 this is
where the buffet and cooked breakfast is served for our Bed & Breakfast
guests. The cafe is open to the public during the day for lunch (evening
dining is seasonal).
Reef
Cottage Bed and Breakfast has some special features. The vault ensuite
is a particular favourite room, with the large vault being renovated
into an ensuite.
The
Queen Suite has its own private lounge and ensuite claw foot bath and
shower.
The
entire four-bedroom cottage can be booked by private parties.
Reef
Cottages private patio leads off the kitchen and into the garden which
follows down to the Inangahua River 100m away. The Inagahua River is a
great place to trout spot and fish and to walk along the River bank.
Reef
Cottage is located between Victoria Forrest Park and Paparoa National
park providing access to over 200 kilometres of trout fishing rivers
surrounding Reefton. Guests can also enjoy exploring the historic Gold
fields, tramping trails, mountain biking and taking scenic tours and
four wheel-drive treks. Reeftons central location in the West Coast
makes Reef Cottage an ideal base for day trips to Murchison, Westport,
Punakaiki, Greymouth, South Westland and Hanmer Springs. |
